About Us
Ghostwalk was started by a group of Santa Paula Theater supporters, not only as a fundraiser for the theater, but also as a way to take theater out to people who might not normally go see live theater.
Our goal is to entertain, but our hope is that by introducing theater to a new audience in this way, they might be more open to enjoying live theater at our beautiful, and award-winning, Santa Paula Theater Center.
The Ghostwalk was a huge hit right from the start, due to the high quality of the productions, and the commitment of our talented volunteers. The Ghostwalk is all about the tradition of great storytelling, and the secret to our continued success is a simple one: Great stories -- told by great actors – in great, historic locations that change from year to year.
Not all of our ghosts are based on real people, but all of the tales are tied to historic people, incidents, disasters, or general history of the city of Santa Paula or the Santa Clara River Valley.

There are scores of local volunteers that help us pull off this annual event, and we thank them all, but there are a few key people we would especially like to thank.
Mary Alice Henderson, is our tireless chairwoman who helps pull it all together every year. Our talented Artistic Directors are Jeff G. Rack and Dee Helsel, who not only help in writing our great stories, but do all the casting and directing of our actors. Jeff G. Rack is also responsible for our ghost lighting, special EFX, story springboards and our famous Ghostwalk logo.
Our Ghost-walkers know Louie Hengehold as a favorite yearly ghost, but he also helps with many “behind the scenes” things. We’d also like to thank our ghostly board members: Jennifer Heighton, John Nichols, Mitch Stone, and also Miguel Fernandez for all he does on our Ghostly Guides guide. We could not do this without all of you.
